China’s Rise In The End Times
In recent years, increasingly, more people are considering whether China appears in the “End Times” Bible prophecy. While the Bible does not identify “China” specifically, it does mention a coalition of nations called “The Kings of the East”. These “Nations” will use a dried-up “Euphrates River” to move their armies and gather for “The Battle of Armageddon”. China’s growing economic, technological, and military power makes it “The elephant in the world’s living room” that we can’t ignore. Let’s examine how China’s rise in the “End Times, could affect us as individuals and all of us globally.
KEY BIBLICAL PASSAGES REFERENCING “THE EAST” AND “THE KINGS OF THE EAST”
DANIEL 9:44 – “But tidings out of the EAST and out of the NORTH shall trouble him (The Antichrist): therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many”.
REVELATION 16:12 – “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river EUPHRATES; and the water thereof was DRIED UP, THAT THE WAY OF THE KINGS OF THE EAST MIGHT BE PREPARED”.
“PREPARED” – This is the Strong’s Greek word # 2090, and it means “To make necessary preparations, get everything ready,” and metaphorically, this Greek word is “Drawn from the oriental custom, of kings sending servants, to level and prepare the roads, to make it more passable for the kings to travel down the road”.
In Bible prophecy discussions, “The kings from the east” is a central phrase to “End Time Bible Prophecy”. It is not defined as “China”, explicitly; however, many interpreters believe that it is a coalition of “Asian nations”, often with “China”, at the forefront, do to the historical significance, large population, and growing global influence. These verses point to a scenario where the “Euphrates River”, is dries up, enabling these kings and their armies to move westward without impediment.
The “Euphrates River”, is one of the oldest rivers in the history of mankind, being one of the four rivers that was fed from Eden and the pre-flood World (GENESIS 2:10). The “Euphrates River”, was one of the boundaries of “The Promised Land”, which God gave to Abraham and his descendants (GENESIS 15:18; DEUTERONOMY 1:7; JOSHUA 1:4). In REVELATION 16:8,9 (THE FOURTH VILE OR BOWL JUDGMENT”), God brings judgment to the earth in the form of “Scorching heat” which could lead to water evaporation of the river also and it drying up.
According to “Herodotus”, the city-state of Babylon was overthrown when Cyrus diverted the river Euphrates, allowing the Persians to wade into the city unexpectedly. This may be the near-term reference of Jeremiah: “A drought is against her waters, and they will be dried up” (JEREMIAH 50:38), which may also speak of the ultimate day of the Lord, drying up of the Euphrates described here.
The “Euphrates River” is mentioned here because of the events of “The Great Tribulation”. involves a literal city (Babylon), on its banks. Also, with the modern-day “Dam system”, on the Euphrates River, the waters of this river could be diverted from the north, leading to dry river beds almost instantly, by the time the river waters get into modern-day “Iran”, but in times of war, “Dams” can be popular targets by enemies!
REVELATION 9:16 – “And the number of the ARMY of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand (200,000,000): and I heard the number of them”.
This colossal army of two hundred million could only be fielded from a massive population, such as is possible today, from “China” and its potential allies. With other fulfilled prophecies, such as the destruction of “Tyre” (EZEKIEL 26) and a detailed prediction regarding “Babylon” (ISAIAH 13,14), and other Bible prophecies, concerning God’s judgment on nations, that have come true, it helps to bolster trust in the Scriptures’ predictive accuracy. This track record undergirds the validity of “End Time Prophecies”, which some see as culminating in large-scale events, potentially involving “China” and its allies.
REVELATION 16:13 – “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet”.
REVELATION 16:14 – “For they are the spirits of devils, WORKING MIRACLES, which go forth unto the KINGS OF THE EARTH AND OF THE WHOLE WORLD, TO GATHER THEM TO THE BATTLE OF THE GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY”.
Jesus predicted “False Christ and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See I told you beforehand” (MATTHEW 24:24; MARK 13:22). This is the unrighteous deception among those who perish, which Paul wrote of in 2 THESSALONIANS 2:10. “The False Prophet”, in the end times, will perform great signs in order to deceive (REVELATION 13:13,14; REVELATION 19:20). “Signs”, themselves may be legitimate “Miracles”, but this is IMMATERIAL, if they do not point us to God and His truth (DEUTERONOMY 13:1-5).
The deception of these “Miracles” will be so powerful that it will be too “IRRESTIBLE”, by those who lack God’s protection, by way of spiritual regeneration. No amount of sophistication, education, power, or wisdom will prove adequate to resist. The manipulation of the “KINGS” will be so complete that they themselves will think that they are following their own clever plans or even the will of “god,” but it is the demons who dragged them forward. Even then, every step has been determined by God.
The parting of “The Red Sea”, at “The Exodus”, of the Hebrew people, allowed God’s people to FLEE FROM DESTRUCTION. Now, the waters of “The Euphrates River” will be dried up so that God’s enemies can be GATHERED FOR THEIR DESTRUCTION. God dried up “The River Jordan”, for the Hebrew people to cross into their inheritance, “The Promised Land” (JOSHUA 3:15-17; JOSHUA 4:22). Soon, God will dry up the river Euphrates to gather the “kings” into His inheritance, for which they will be judged (PSALM 79:1).
REVELATION 16:15 – “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame”.
REVELATION 16:16 – “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon”.
A group of nations, who are not specifically mentioned in the Bible, only as “The Kings of the East”, and are described as having “THE WAY PREPARED”, to assemble themselves for “Battle, on the Great (Coming) Day of God Almighty”.
Who makes up this “END DAYS EASTERN COALITION OF NATIONS”? Given recent history, China will certainly be a part of that group of nations called the “Kings of the East and probably will be leading the group as the head towards “The Battle of Armageddon”. There are 195 nations on the face of the earth, and out of that total, only TWO NATIONS have had a meteoric rise, both in technology, trade, and military strength – those TWO NATIONS are:
(1). THE RISE OF THE NATION OF ISRAEL
* Once the world gets the chapter 16 of the “Book of Revelation”, the whole reason for the world’s armies gathering at “Armageddon”, is it attack on ISRAEL, which wouldn’t even be possible until 1948!
After the 1973 “Yom Kippur War”, between Israel and its Arab neighbors, Israel BEGAN to be recognized as one of the leading economic and military powers of the world – THANKS TO THE CONTINUAL SUPPORT AND TRADE WITH THE UNITED STATES!
(2). THE RISE OF THE NATION OF CHINA
*Despite the rich history of China, it existed for thousands of years, as a “Third World Backwater Nation”, without prominence on the world stage.
In a summit between the United States and China, from February 21st to the 28th, 1972, U.S. President Richard Nixon met with Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong in China and normalized trade relationships with both countries.
In 1989, Senator Al Gore sponsored legislation “Barring U.S.-made satellites from being launched on Chinese rockets – unless the president declared such a launch to be in the national interest of the U.S, intending to punish Beijing for massacring students in “Tiananmen Square”. Between 1989 and 1992, President George H.W. Bush issued nine such waivers. Gore announced President Bush as an “Incurable patsy”. However, once Bill Clinton and Al Gore were in office, President Clinton signed eleven waivers.
In 1993, five days before President George H. W. Bush left office, “Sweeping aside vehement objections from the Defense Department, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the intelligent community, the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and several members of Congress, he planned to sell china a “Crave Supercomputer”, but then postponed the sale, “After China allegedly provided missile components and technology to Pakistan”.
China was going to use the supercomputer for “Weather forecasting”, but could easily adapt it for military applications, simulating nuclear reactions to test design, speeding development of atomic weapons.
In 1993, concerns were expressed that CHINA COULD SHARE THE CRAY SUPERCOMPUTER WITH IRAN, WHICH DESIRED NUCLEAR CAPABILITY.

Since the year 2000, China’s rise to power has been undeniable, along with its new designation as a “Superpower”. On October 14th, 2014, the I.M.F. (The International Monetary Fund) reported that China had surpassed the United States as the world’s largest economy. This new designation is pivotal because the continual growth of China’s economy fuels its massive military buildup.
For the 50th anniversary of the summit between the United States and China, which was billed: “AS THE WEEK THAT CHANGED THE WORLD”, the celebrated summit is considered one of the major diplomatic turning points of modern history and China’s rise to power, THANKS TO THE SUPPORT AND TRADE WITH THE UNITED STATES!
BOTH OF THESE TWO NATIONS (ISRAEL AND IRAN), STARTED THEIR REMARKABLE RISE AT ALMOST THE SAME TIME!
*HOW IS GOD “PREPARING THE WAY OF THE KINGS OF THE EAST” IN THIS NEAR FUTURE EVENT?
* CHINA AND EGYPT’S FIRST EVER JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE
China and Egypt launched a wide-scale joint military exercise during the month of April and May of 2025, near the Israeli border, but Chinese media described it as a historical first of its kind. The drill dubbed “Eagles of Civilization 2025” started 62 miles west of the Gulf of Suez and eventually came to the border of Egypt and Israel. Western analysts view the move as part of Beijing’s broader strategy to expand its military presence in the Middle East, amid signs of a reduced American footprint in the region.
* The “Eagles of Civilization 2025” exercise follows the recent joint naval drill involving CHINA, RUSSIA, AND IRAN, near the Persian Gulf.
* CHINA’S “ONE BELT, ONE ROAD INITIATIVE” (B.R.I.) AND IRAN (BABYLON – ELAM)
China is working on something known as the “Silk Road Project” or “The One Belt, One Road Initiative”. NBC reports that “China” intends to spend 1 trillion dollars to build roads, bridges, roads, and MARITIME FACILITIES, to reach from China to Europe and China to the Middle East.
IRAN WAS AN IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION HUB AND TRADE DISTRIBUTION CENTER ON THE” SILK ROAD” IN ANCIENT DAYS. IN THE NEAR FUTURE, IRAN WILL ONCE AGAIN BE “THE TRANSPORTATION HUB AND TRADE DISTRIBUTION CENTER”, FOR “THE BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE”, FOR THIS TRADE ROUTE AND FOR THE WORLD!
REVELATION 18:9 – “And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and live deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning”,
REVELATION 18:10 – “Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, ALAS, ALAS, that great City Babylon, that mighty city! For one hour is that judgment come”.
The word “ALAS” does not have the same meaning in English as it does in Greek. It means the same thing that was stated in the previous verse – “ALAS” means to “BEWAIL AND LAMENT” AND “HAVE GREAT SORROW”.
REVELATION 18:11 – “For the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth THEIR merchandise anymore”:
IN REVELATION 18:12, 13, IT LISTS THE “STUFF” THAT IS TRADED, INCLUDING “SILK” (CHINA) AND “SLAVES,” WHICH HAS BEEN HISTORICALLY AND TO THIS DAY, A MUSLIM TRADE ITEM.
REVELATION 18:15 – “The MERCHANTS of these things, which are made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing”,
The word “MERCHANTS”, in this Scripture, means “Wholesalers” and not “Retailers” – these are the suppliers of the “Retailers”, across the world – but both wholesalers and retailers will lament the loss of the great trade city in the future, the city of “Babylon”.
REVELATION 18:16 – “And saying, Alas, alas, that GREAT CITY, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls”!
REVELATION 18:17 – “For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And EVERY SHIP MASTER, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as traded by sea, stood a far off”,
REVELATION 18:18 – “And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What CITY is like unto this GREAT CITY!”
REVELATION 18:23 – “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: FOR THY MERCANTS WERE THE GREAT MEN OF THE EARTH; for by the sorceries were all nations deceived”.
Traditionally, in the past, Bible scholars have believed it was Rome or New York, as the “City of Babylon”, talked about here in scripture
COULD THAT “GREAT CITY”, A TRADING CAPITAL FOR THE WORLD, IN THE FUTURE, BE “TERRAN” AND ITS SEAPORT CITY “BANDOR ABBAS” – WHICH HAS A HISTORICAL PAST, AS BEING A SEAPORT BETWEEN THE EAST AND THE WEST?
